Responsibilities:

  • Prepare one-line diagrams, conduit and wire schedules, panel schedules, lighting layouts and calculations
  • Prepare voltage drop, IECC and Title 24, and estimated building load calculations
  • Coordinates electrical design work with project management, clients and consultants (internal and external)
  • Maintains regular communication with Managing Electrical Engineer, clients, permitting agencies, consultants and project management
  • Collects background information and helps write specifications and electrical design practices
  • Provides work direction and technical guidance to Electrical CAD Draftsperson(s)
  • Checks and approves electrical drawings within assigned area
  • Review and approve project submittals

Current/Recent Projects:

Santa Ana Multipurpose Building

Lopez Engineering was contracted to perform the electrical design for the Santa Ana Multipurpose Building located in Albuquerque, NM. This project was new construction and incorporated in the facility were a gymnasium with running track, indoor recreational, lap pools, banquet facilities, daycare, office space, and a fitness center. Lopez Engineering designed the interior lighting layouts throughout and coordinated with the landscape designer on exterior lighting, which included lighting calculations and 3-D modeling. Lopez Engineering coordinated with pool consultants to ensure adequate electrical service for the pool equipment.

Sherman Indian High School

Lopez Engineering was contracted through Dyron Murphy Architects, to perform the electrical design for the Sherman Indian High School located in Riverside, CA. Lopez Engineering performed several days of field work to determine the existing electrical design of the campus, which housed multiple auxiliary buildings in addition to classrooms and dormitories. Lopez Engineering maintained close coordination to the B.I.A. defined scope of work on a number of buildings on the campus. Some of which included determining the extent of requirements to provide a new service to the existing cafeteria building, and preparing a report which highlighted code violations and a building by building analysis of recommended electrical improvements to be considered. The original scope of work did not include construction administration.
